It's hard to believe 25 years has passed since the University of Illinois men's basketball Final Four team was on the court.  The team known as the Flyin' Illini.

That's also the name of a book by the former point guard of the team Stephen Bardo, who works now as a Big Ten Network analyst.  And it has ruffled feathers, with criticisms of some players and coaches.

The University of Illinois Springfield is looking for a new men's basketball coach.   The school announced today that Ben Wierzba's contract won't be renewed.

He spent four years leading the Prairie Stars finishing with an overall record of 39 wins and 69 losses. His career as head coach was highlighted by leading the program to a 15-13 record in his second year in 2011-12 as the team finished 12-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Athletic Director Kim Pate says a search for a replacement will begin immediately.

This has not been an easy week for the Washington, Illinois High School Football Team. Instead of just preparing for a playoff game this weekend, they have one of the largest distractions imaginable, an EF-4 tornado that hit their community.

The Washington Panthers are practicing at Illinois State University's Hancock Stadium in Normal getting ready for Saturday's Class Five-A Semifinal game in Springfield against Sacred Heart-Griffin. At least nine of the team lost their homes in Sunday's Tornado.

But the words suddenly got physical when three coaches for the opposing team jumped Hills and beat him brutally. That was 10 summers ago. "It shattered me," Hills says of the incident that led to the loss of his plumbing business.
