Support - Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Needed!

  • During our twice-a-year pledge drives, you can meet other people who love public radio as much as you do! Each shift, we need 2-3 phone answerers and one person who can enter the names and towns of the callers in a computer. Shifts are 2-3 hours long, and are available at all hours of the day during the drive. If you are interested in coming to the station during pledge week to answer phones, please contact WUIS.
  • WUIS sponsors special events throughout the year, and you can help out! We sponsor booths at various musical venues and it’s a great time to hear some live music and spread the word about the great music on WUIS. If you’re interested in helping out at a special event, please contact WUIS.
  • The Development Department has the responsibility of helping ensure that the News and Programming Departments have the funds they need to produce great radio! If you are recently retired, looking to see what a career in radio might be about, or just have a few hours you’d like to give to a good cause, we could use your help for administrative tasks and other projects tailored to your talents. If you have a few hours a week or month to give, please contact WUIS.

Volunteers Needed!

  • WUIS-WIPA Radio Information Service, a reading service for the print impaired, is always in need of volunteer readers. We air many local newspapers and several different magazines. The majority of programs run for either a half hour or an hour, and can be taped ahead of time to fit your schedule. Requirements for volunteers are a clear pleasant reading voice, and dedication. Training on recording will be provided. If you are interested in helping out please contact Becky Yaeger.
