October 24 w/ Bruiser Queen
Minnesota native Charlie Parr brings his dark, authentic country blues to Bedrock 66 Live! October 24. Joining Charlie is St. Louis duo Bruiser Queen. Inspired by his father's records of Lightning Hopkins, Charly Patton, Woody and Leadbelly, Charlie Parr bought himself a National Resonator
guitar and an open back banjo. The result is more than eight albums of folk blues that is both primitive, heartfelt and beautiful. Raised by parents who both worked in the Hormel meatpacking plant in Austin, MN, Parr grew up surrounded by stockyards, killing floors and labor strife. He was also influenced by the bucolic charms of rural Minnesota experienced on his Uncle's farm. The contradictions of the American experience resonate in the music of Charlie Parr.
Parr's influences are worn proudly and for all to see. Whether playing his National Resonator guitar or his open back 5 string banjo, Charley Patton, Dock Boggs, Dock Boggs and maybe a little Bob Dylan shine through. A treasured folk artist in his home of Duluth, MN we are proud to help Charlie bring is knowledge, art and music to our neck of the woods.
