Details On Next Phase Of Obamacare
The Affordable Care Act, often called Obamacare, is among the most controversial domestic policy laws in history. And it remains so just days before the next phase launches October 1. At that time, a window opens allowing comparative shopping for coverage.
While the debate in Washington continues, we wanted to take a closer look at the law and what it will mean for those who are uninsured and those who already have coverage.
Jim Duffett, Executive Director of the Campaign for Better Health Care joins us. He has lobbied on behalf of this law.
"October first is an open phase... for 30 to 35 million Americans who do not have health insurance. They have the ability to go online or sit down with a wide range of groups and see if they are eligible for the expanded Medicaid program or the marketplace," Duffett said.
"Don't freak out if everything isn't working as planned on October 1," cautions Duffett. "You have 6 months to (sign up)."
