This is the WUIS Christmas Archives... for Saturday... December 21st.   I'm Rich Bradley

In 1966... the December 21st edition of the Illinois State Journal's front page features a desperate call for last-minute donations to the "Friend indeed fund.

A life-size nativity scene was found on the state capitol lawn over the weekend and police are looking for the owners.  It's believed it was placed there by pranksters.

The Capitol City Goodwill carolers are singing and passing out gifts to the residents of the Carver Convalescent Home today.

Page 4 shows students from Jefferson Junior High giving gifts to children at the Little Red Schoolhouse.  This evening in Rochester... the “Around the World” Yule Play is performed by first... second and third graders.  The 1st annual community-wide Christmas festival is tonight in the Community Center... and there are Church events in Pawnee and Illiopolis this week.

Peppermint Pattie jotted off a quick note to Santa reminding him to wear his seat belt.  Snow is in the forecast for Springfield and K-mart has you covered with 5-dollar ice skates and bad-weather boots for $2 to $4.

And education is the byword... according to an article about the educational toys Santa is bringing in this new space-age.

That's the WUIS Christmas Archives for Saturday... December 21st.  I'm Rich Bradley.
